Catholic Wins Season Opener at Stevenson, 6-3

Stevenson, Md. — The Catholic University of America men's tennis team opened the 2017-18 season with a road victory as the Cardinals downed Stevenson, 6-3.

The senior duo of Jan Lasota and Rob Alexander earned a No. 1 doubles win against the Mustangs as the team went over, 8-4.

Catholic also took the No. 2 doubles in a tight match as sophomore Kyle Weber and junior Matt Pham won the 9-8 thriller.

Weber was a two-time winner as he won another close competition at No. 3 singles. He came back from a 6-3 loss in the first set but came back to take the second, 6-2, before getting the tiebreaker win, 7-6.

The Cardinals continue a two-match road swing to open the season this Saturday at McDaniel at noon.
