Cardinals Escape Scranton

WASHINGTON- The Catholic University of America's men's tennis team outplayed rival Scranton University Monday afternoon in a close match. The visiting Cardinals were able to defeat the Royals in a 5-4 match that would keep the team tied with Drew University for the lead in the Landmark Conference. With the win the Cardinals notched their sixth victory of the season putting the team record at 6-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
Victories by John Dillon (River Forest, Ill./Fenwick) and Andrew Kracht (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) in the doubles competition as well as Connor Donnelly (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) and Rich Sheaffer (Warrenton, Va./Fauquier) sealed the deal for the Cards. In addition, Catholic was able to pick up three points in singles competition winning the last three contests decisively.
The Cardinals will travel to New Jersey this weekend as they battle Drew University where they will look to take sole position of first place in the Landmark Conference. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m., Saturday the 29th in Madison, New Jersey.
