Kramer named CUA Athlete of the Week
WASHINGTON – After earning a pair of singles wins and a doubles win last week Kyle Kramer has been named the CUA Athlete of the Week. Kramer picked up singles wins vs. Shenandoah and Moravian and he teamed with Jason Quisberth to earn a doubles win against Shenandoah.
Kramer began the week by downing Adam Bamberger 6-2, 6-2 at fifth singles in CUA's match vs. Shenandoah on March 21. Kramer later added an 8-4 doubles win as he and Quisberth combined to defeat Tim Lutz and Vladimir Daskalov. CUA won the match 9-0.
On Saturday, March 26 Kramer earned an exciting 5-7, 7-5, 6-3 victory at fifth singles to lift CUA to a 5-4 come-from-behind win over Moravian in Pennsylvania. It was Moravian's first home loss of the season.
Kramer trailed in the match 5-4, but eventually battled back to win, executing what Cardinals Head Coach Marty Dowd called, "one of the best gets I have seen in many, many years." Following Kramer's win members of the CUA team rushed the court in celebration.
Kramer and CUA have won five straight matches and will return to action on Saturday, April 2 when the Cardinals host Scranton. Start time is 1 p.m.
