Cardinals begin spring season in South Carolina

WASHINGTON - The Catholic University men's tennis team will open its spring season by traveling to South Carolina this spring break for a series of matches. The team started the year strong with three wins and two losses during the fall. The Cardinals registered two impressive 9-0 wins vs. Hood College and McDaniel.

Individually, the Cardinals had an impressive 21-9 record in singles play and 10-5 in doubles during the fall.

Brian Bradley and Joe Gribbon enter the spring as the leaders in singles while the duo of Bernardo Nogales and Jean Paul Roman top the doubles category.

Freshman Cassian Utrie made a strong entrance during a fall match against Division I Loyola (Md.), taking his opponent down 6-1, 6-2 in singles action.

CUA kicks off the tournament on March 7th with a match against Marian University at 12:30 p.m.  The Cardinals trip will conclude on March 10 when they take on Mount Union at 11:30 a.m.
