CUA earns tenth win of the season by downing Stevenson 8-1
WASHINGTON – The Cardinals got back in the win column on
Wednesday with an 8-1 victory over Stevenson. CUA won every
match, except first singles, receiving singles wins from Cassian
Utrie, Joe Peters, Brian Bradley, Kyle Kramer and Joe
Gribbin. Utrie and Peters, Bernardo Nogales and Jean Paul
Roman, and Kramer and Jason Quisberth earned doubles wins.
At first singles Ted Cooke took down Nogales 6-1, 6-3 before Utrie
registered CUA’s first win of the afternoon, 6-3, 6-1 over
Brian Bollman at second singles.
Peters picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the third flight and
Bradley followed with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Randy Speck at fourth
singles.
Kramer kept things rolling for the Cardinals by downing Shawn
Kelley 7-6, 6-0 at fifth singles and Gribbin closed it out with a
6-2, 6-2 win at the sixth flight.
In doubles action Utrie and Peters scored an 8-1 win at the first
flight and Nogales and Roman took down Cooke and Kevin Stamm 8-4 at
the second flight.
Kramer and Quisberth closed out the day with an 8-6 win at third
doubles over Randy Speck and Kelley.
On Saturday CUA will host Drew in a Landmark Conference
match. Start time is slated for 1 p.m.
