Catholic University Releases Spring Schedules
Spring break trips highlight the first few weeks of the season

10/31/2007

WASHINGTON- The Catholic University of America Department of Athletics released the spring sports schedules Wednesday afternoon.  The schedules include women's lacrosse, men's lacrosse, track and field, baseball and softball.  Information will be added as each season approaches.

With the move to the new conference, men's lacrosse has dropped Salisbury from their schedule but kept CAC-foes York and Marymount in non-conference play.  The season will begin with a trip to Florida for spring break before facing Emerson at home in their first game of the season on March 8.

The women's lacrosse squad is also traveling to Florida to start the season where they will play Greensboro and Guilford.  After two warm-weather games, the team will gear up for national-powerhouse Salisbury on March 8.  In her second season Head Coach Meghan McDonogh has put together a challenging schedule featuring ranked Washington and Lee as well as former CAC-opponent Mary Washington.

After one of the best seasons in program history and losing just two seniors, the softball team is poised for another successful year.  The team will be traveling for spring break but return home for its home opener on March 14.  Landmark Conference opponent Moravian will prove to be stiff competition and for non-conference games the coaching staff has left a majority of the CAC schedule intact including Mary Washington, Gallaudet and Salisbury.

The track and field teams will have two different season with indoor and outdoor.  Both squads will travel to the University of Maryland for an open meet early in the year and then take trips to Lebabnon Valley, Ursinus and Susquehanna.  The Landmark Conference Indoor Championship is scheduled for February 23 at Susquehanna.  For outdoor both teams will have meets at Roanoke, Bridgewater, Goucher and Messiah before the conference meet on April 25.

Baseball has not finalized opponents for their spring break to trip to South Carolina but open up before the trip on February 20 versus St. Mary's at home.  The Cardinals will play a number of top opponents including Johns Hopkins, Bridgewater, Mary Washington and Rutgers-Camden.

The tennis teams have already played their fall games and will take a break before their spring trip to Hilton Head Island over the break.
