Cardinals face top teams at Maryland Invitational
COLLEGE PARK, Md. – CUA competed at two events on
Saturday, with most of the team heading to the Maryland
Invitational, and a few student-athletes traveling to the Jim
Taylor Invitational. The Cardinals more than held their own
at the UMD Invite, where they competed against a number of Division
I teams.
At the UMD Invite, Matt Zemba finished 17th in the 400 meters
(52.62 seconds), while Alex Hetzel was 23rd (54.23) and Christian
Hibinski was 26th (56.83).
In the 1500 meters, Michael Spielberger crossed in 30th place with
a time of 4:15.44, while George Brewer was 34th (4:17.27) and
Michael Kennedy came in 41st (4:43.41).
Mike Puskar posted a time of 9:19.74 to place 14th in the 3000
meters, with Dylan Jones and Kian Olia coming in 18th and 19th,
respectively. Nick Pavia came in 12th place in the 400
hurdles (1:05.58)
In the relay events, CUA A came in 13th in the 4x400 relay
(3:44.88) with CUA B next in line with a time of 3:49.52).
At the Jim Taylor Invitational on the campus of Susquehanna
University, Pete Schramm finished 12th in the discus
(120’10”) and Shawn Brubaker came in 16th place
(111’2”).
In the shot put, Schramm was tenth with a throw of 39’3
¼” and Brubaker came in 14th (36
¾”).
CUA will return to action on April 14 when the Cardinals travel to
compete at the Messiah College Invitational. Start time is
set for 9 a.m.
