Quigley posts CUA's top finish in first meet of second semester
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – After more than a month since its last
competition, CUA returned to action this weekend at the Captains
Invitational. The meet was hosted by Christopher Newport
University. Joe Quigley notched the Cardinals top individual
finish, placing sixth in the 1000 meters.
Robert Leeson came in 11th in the 800 meters, with a time of 2:06.13, while Jacob Maclin was 15th, Collin Roszyk was 17th, and Michael Kennedy was 22nd.
In the 400-meter dash, Alex Hetzel finished 23rd in 57.11, and Nick Pavia came in 25th in 59.93.
Joe Quigley (2:41.56), George Brewer (2:50.11) and Michael Spielberger (2:56.39) finished 6-7-8 in the 1000 meters.
In the 3000 meters, Matthias Arauco-Shapiro was 7th in 9:14.66, with John Brewer (11), Michael Wood (14), Lucas Milone (15) and Kian Olia (18) in the top-20.
In the field events, Shawn Brubaker finished 9th in the weight throw after a throw of 45’ 11 ¼”, and 13th in the shot put with a toss of 37’ ½”
CUA will be back in action on January 26 when the Cardinals travel to the Lebanon Valley Invite. Start time is set for 8:30 a.m.
