Five Cardinals earn top 10 finishes at Gettysburg Invite
GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Shawn Brubaker finished in the top-10 of
two events, while Joe Quigley placed 4th in the 800, to lead CUA in
its finale tune-up prior to next weekend’s outdoor conference
championship at the Gettysburg Invite on Saturday. Three other
Cardinals earned top 10 finishes as CUA finished 8th in the team
Brubaker’s throw of 145’ 5” earned him a 2nd place finish in the hammer throw, and he also posted a 10th place finish in the shot put, with a throw of 36’ 10 1/2”.
Quigley came in 4th in the 800 with a time of 1:57.15, while Robert Leeson was 7th (2:01.08), Collin Roszyk came in 13th (2:03.35), Michael Spielberger was 15th (2:04.28) and John Brewer crossed in 19th (2:05.48).
In the mile, Matthias Arauco-Shapiro finished 7th, posting a time of 4:37.60, and Michael Wood came in 16th (4:50.17).
In the 400, Alex Hetzel (53.43) and Jacob Maclin (53.54) finished 5th and 6th, respectively.
CUA finished in 8th place with 24 points, while Mary Washington was atop the team standings with 162 points. Gettysburg was 2nd with 126 points, followed by Frostburg State (93), Hagerstown Community College (74), and Dickinson (64).
CUA now heads to Goucher College on April 27 for the two-day Landmark Conference outdoor championship. Start time is set for 11 a.m.
