Men's Indoor Track & Field Predicted to Finish 5th
WASHINGTON - The Catholic University men's indoor track & field team was predicted to finish 5th in the Landmark Conference this year according to the Preseason Poll released on Thursday.
The prediction mirrors CUA's finish from the 2012-13 season, as the Cardinals finished 5th in the indoorr championships with 18 points.
Although the Cards will have to find a way to replace All-Conference performers Joe Quigley (800m) and Shawn Brubaker (throws) who graduated this spring, CUA Head Coach Kent Thompson welcomes talented freshman to the program in addition to a strong nucleus of returners.
Freshmen Greg Daley and Kevin Drummond will make their debut for the Cardinals as both compete in the sprint and jump events.
With an extra year of competition under their belt, Jacob Maclin (mid-dist), Chris Derks (distance), John Brewer (distance), Mike Wood (distance), and Rob Leeson (mid-dist) are expected to come back this season ready to make their mark in the Landmark.
The Cardinals open up the 2013-14 season this Saturday, Dec. 7 when they travel to Collegeville, Pa., for the Bow-Tie Classic at Ursinus College.
