Cardinals Compete at DuCharme Invite

WASHINGTON - The Catholic University men's and women's indoor track and field team's traveled to Carlisle, Pa. for the DuCharme Invite held at Dickinson College on Saturday, Feb. 15.

On the men's side, the best finish of the day came from Greg Daley, who placed third in the high jump with a 1.68m effort. He also took home a fifth-place finish in the 55m hurdles, crossing the finish line in 8.46 seconds, besting his qualifying time of 8.54.

In the 1 Mile run, John Brewer finished in 4:34.34 to finish in eighth in the final top-10 finish for the Cardinals. In the 800m run, Robert Leeson and Chris Derks finished back-to-back, with times of 2:08.83 and 2:10.26, respectively, for 12th and 13th.

Kevin Drummond leaped 5.30m in the long jump to finish 13th in the event. He also competed in the 55m dash along with Daley, the pair both ran a 7.03 time in the sprint.

The Lady Cardinals had several top-10 finishers at the invite. In the 5000m, Rebecca Radcliffe (20:17.32) and Sara Lally (20:43.28) finished in fourth and fifth. CUA had another duo finish fourth and fifth, as Danielle Caruccio and Bridget Krumholz ran times of 61.91 and 63.22 seconds in the 400 dash.

Victoria Maue had the final top-5 finish for Catholic, as the freshman bested her 7.88 second qualifying time with a 7.83 showing in the 55m final to take home fifth place.

In the 800m run, Maria Docal and Catherine Kitz finished just .35 seconds apart. Docal ran a 2:38.37 time, earning a ninth place finish, while Kitz finished in 2:38.72 for tenth. Kristen Rayfield was not far behind, finishing in 16th with a 2:44.06 time.

In the jumps, Candace Williamson had a 4.49m effort in the Long Jump to finish ninth, while Mary Paige Nesfeder was 10th with a 4.32m jump. In the Triple Jump, Williamson placed 10th with a 9.42m jump. Nesfeder finished sixth in the High Jump, clearing the bar at 1.43m.
