WASHINGTON - The Catholic University women's track & field team scored 109.50 points, while the men earned 11 at the two-day Landmark Championship held at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Mary 3-4 in Kings Point, N.Y.
On the men's side, the CUA 4x400 Meter Relay team of Robert Leeson, Collin Roszyk, Jacob Maclin, and John Brewer had the best finish of the weekend, taking home fourth in the event with a time of 3:31.43 for five points.
Roszyk added three more points in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 52.84 which earned him sixth place.
Brewer also scored again for Catholic, taking home three points with a sixth place finish in the 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:01.27.
With 300 team points, Susquehanna grabbed the program's first Landmark Championship.
On the women's side, Mary Clark was named the co-Field Player of the Year after scoring 27 points for the Cardinals in four events.
Catholic had two first place finishers as freshman Mary Paige Nesfeder took home the gold in the Discus with a 33.70 meter throw for 10 points, while Clark finished third at 32.87 meters, and Samantha Kozlowski took eighth, scoring one point with a 27.10 meter throw.
Clark earned the other top spot, with a 46.46 meter effort in the Hammer Throw which was also good enough to qualify for the ECAC Tournament. Kaila DeFalco was the other Cardinal to score with a seventh place finish on 33.42 meters.
Nesfeder tied for third in the High Jump, clearing the bar at 1.47 meters and scoring 5.5 points while Courtney Doran was fifth with a 1.42 meter jump for four points.
Clark had a 11.27 meter throw in the Shot Put, good for third place and six more points, while Kozlowski picked up another point with a 8.85 meter toss in eighth.
In the Javelin, Clark was fourth with a 29.87 meter throw, while Nesfeder was sixth with a 27.85 meter throw.
Christine Burias picked up three points for CUA by finishing sixth in the Pole Vault as she cleared the bar at 2.59 meters.
In the final field event, Candace Williamson's first jump of 9.45 meters was good enough for seventh place in the Triple Jump and two more points for Catholic.
CUA scored 37 points in the Track events. Maria Dextra Cercos ran a 16.30 second time in the 100 Meter Hurdles for third place. She came in second in the 400 Meter Hurdles with a time of 1:09.77.
Danielle Caruccio came in fourth during the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 59.51 which also qualified her for the ECAC Championships. Bridget Krumholz was not far behind at 1:01.02 for a sixth place finish.
Caruccio placed fifth in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 26.23 seconds and scored four more points for the Cardinals.
With 311 team points, the Moravian women won their seventh consecutive Landmark Championship.
