1998 Season
1997-98 Men's Highlights: The team swept the hammer throw at the April 4 Christopher Newport Captain's Invitational. Matt Quinn won the event (101' 3"), followed by Joe Perez and Corey Willey. Quinn won the discus at the Mason-Dixon Conference meet with a toss of 135' 9.5", finished second in the hammer (128' 9") and third in the shot put (42' 5").
1997-98 Women's Highlights: Kate Cassidy has set school records in the hammer throw and shot put. Cassidy has qualified for the ECAC Championships in the shot, while Anne Connolly qualified in the 5,000 meters and Muckenthaler in the 100 and 400 hurdles. Nicole Bhalla finished second in the Mason-Dixon Conference Championships in the 800 meter run and qualified for ECAC competition. At the ECAC meet, Cassidy placed fifth in the shot put and extended her school record in the event to 39' 7 3/4" while Bhalla placed 18th (2:26.51), Connolly placed 13th (19:06.43). Muckenthaler finished 12th in the 400 hurdles in 1:08.66 and 18th in the 100 hurdles in :17.49.
