Quinn Named CAC Athlete of the Week

Senior Matt Quinn (Ridgewood, N.J./Bergen Catholic High) was named Capital Athletic Conference men's track and field Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Captains' Classic in Newport News, Va., on April 7.

Quinn won the hammer throw (147 feet, 1 inch) and the shot put (48-0), placed second in the discus (127-3) and ninth in the javelin (127-7).

The 6-1, 225-pound Quinn will lead the Cardinals to their next meet, the CAC Championships at Fredericksburg, Va., on April 21.

Quinn Breaks School Hammer Throw Record

Senior Matt Quinn (Ridgewod, N.J./Bergen Catholic High) broke his school record in the hammer throw with a toss of 156 feet, four inches at the Bridgewater (Va.) Invitational on March 31. Quinn, whose old record was 147-11, also set meet and Jopson Field records.

It was Catholic University's first outdoor meet of the season and did not include team scores.

Quinn captured the discus with a throw of 139-8 and placed second in the shot (47-2).

The Cardinals will compete in the Captains Classic at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Va., on April 7.
