Men are Fifth at Mason Dixon Meet
Eight all-conference performances highlight the day
NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- The Catholic University men's track and field squad was fifth with 22 points at the Mason Dixon Conference Meet on Saturday. The Cards managed eight all conference performances in the event which was won by the host Christopher Newport Captains.
Mike Doster (Wayne, Pa./Wayne Valley) continued to lead the team on the track with the top race of the day in the 400 meters. Doster ran a 51.95 which was good enough for fourth place. He also took fifth in the 55 meter hurdles with an 8.74. Andrew Smith (Arlington, Tenn./Bolton) was also fifth in the 5,000 meter running a 16:27.25.
In the relays, the 4x400 team of Alex Maro (Havertown, Pa./Haddon Township), Achille Kolla (Rockville, Md./Bethesda-Chevy Chase), Scott Pospiech (Ocean, N.J./Holy Spirit) and Doster was fifth with a time of 3:38.11. The distance medley relay also earned all conference taking fourth in 11:34.39. The squad was made up of Andrew Cvitanovic(New Orleans, La./Jesuit), John Puskar (Fairfield, Conn./Notre Dame Catholic), Paul Santuoso (Miami, Fla./Belen Jesuit) and Pospiech.
In the field, John Mason (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) had the best throw of the day with an 11.81m in the weight throw giving him fourth place. In the triple jump Jacob Herring (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) was fifth (11.84m) and Ken Lorence (Bemsalem, Pa./Holy Ghost) placed sixth (11.38m)
The Cardinals will compete next weekend at the George Mason Winter Open
