Cardinal Men Take 15th at Ursinus
COLLEGEVILLE, Pa.- The CUA men's track and field team placed 15th at the Frank Colden Invitational in Pennsylvania over the weekend. The squad had a number of strong showings at a meet that featured 33 team and only 20 that scored. The meet pitted the Cardinals against a number of teams from all divisions making it an extremely challenging day.
Sophomore Mike Doster (Wayne, Pa./Wayne Valley) put together two outstanding performances for the afternoon. Doster was second in the 400 running a 51.89 and placed fourth in the 55 meter hurdles with an 8.21. In the longer races, Scott Pospiech (Ocean, N.J./Holy Spirit) placed 11th in the 800 clocking in at 2:05.22 while Andrew Smith was 14th in the 1,000 meters with a 2:50.71.
For the field events junior captain John Mason (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) was 14th throwing a 39-80. Jacob Herring (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) made the finals in the triple jump with a but an injury didn't allow him to compete getting eighth place overall.
The Cards scored 17 points for the meet despite Herring's injury and mixing up some of the relay teams. Ursinus won the event.
CUA will compete in the Susquehanna Invitational next Friday.
