Doster Takes First at Susquehanna
SELINSGROVE, Pa.- The Catholic University men's track and field squad had a solid day at the Susquehanna Invitational Friday evening despite a reduced squad. Sophomore Mike Doster (Wayne, Pa./Wayne Valley) put together a great day taking first in t he 400 meters (51.20) and fifth in the 55-meter hurdles (8.22).
Other top individual performances included Scott Pospiech (Ocean, N.J./Holy Spirit) placing 13th in the 800 running a 2:05.88). Freshman Andrew Smith continued his dominant rookie campaign taking 14th in the 5,000 meters with a 16:42.27 which led his section forcing him to set the pace. The 4x800 relay was third (8:43.17) and the 4x400 placed fifth running a 3:35.96 despite a fall on the final exchange.
In the field, junior John Mason (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) was sixth in the weight throw tossing a 12.40 and 12th in the shot put with a 12.10.
The Cards will compete at the Mason Dixon Conference Championships next Sunday marking one of the biggest meets of the indoor season.
