Men are Fifth at Roanoke Invite
Doster and Mason both nab individual firsts
ROANOKE, Va. - The Catholic University men's track and field team placed fifth at the Roanoke Invitational on Saturday. The Cardinals scored 72 points to rank in the top half of the ten-team invitational. The meet was the first for CUA's outdoor team after a successful indoor campaign.
Mike Doster was the lone runner to come in first for the Cards. Doster ran a 57.11 in the 400 hurdles to take the top position. In the 5000m Andrew Smith came in fifth place with a 16:43.40 while Paul Santuoso followed with a 17:25.06. The 800 also a strong race for the Cards who had Scott Pospiech score points in fifth (2:05.63) and Robert Boesch score in seventh (2:09.92). CUA had two people compete in the steeplechase with Chris Kremer coming in second (13:19.67) and Kevin Milsted taking third (14:34.38).
Junior John Mason had a good day in the field for CUA with a first place in the discus. Mason threw 39.43m in the event, he also scored points in the hammer throw (30.23m).
CUA will compete at the Bridgewater Invitational next Saturday.
