Cards Rank Tenth at Messiah
Doster wins the 400 hurdles
GRANTHAM, Pa. - The Catholic University men's track and field squad put together a solid performance at the Messiah Invitational on Saturday. The team was gearing up for the conference meet which will be held next Saturday.
Much like previous meets, Mike Doster (Wayne, Pa./Wayne Valley) led the way for CUA with a first place finish in the 400 hurdles (55.74) and a fifth place finish in the 110 hurdles (16.02). Andrew Smith (Arlington, Tenn./Bolton) had his top performance of the day in the 5,000 meters placing tenth overall in a time of 16:34.60.
For the throwers, John Mason (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) managed to get fourth place in the discus tossing a 40.69 meters and 11th in the hammer throw. Eric Schoeffling (Norristown, Pa./La Salle) was sold for CUA in the javelin with a 50.80 meters for fifth place.
The Cards scored 28 points at the meet which put them in tenth place and ahead of CAC-rival, Goucher. CUA will travel to Salisbury, Md., on Saturday for the Capital Athletic Conference Championships.
