Cards Run at Lebanon Valley Invitational
Pair of relays finish second
ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Catholic University men's track and field squad continued their solid start to the 2008 season with a respectable day at the Lebanon Valley Invitational Saturday. The Cardinals had nine individuals finish in the top ten and also saw the 4x400 (3:47.82) and the 4x800 (8:45.86) meter relays finish second.
In the running events, Andrew Smith led the way taking third place in the 5,000 meters (16:54.30). He was joined in the race by Stephen Jochem (Gallup/Gallup Catholic) who was ninth in a time of 17:14.72). Kris Reynolds, another member of the CUA cross country squad, also ran well finishing fourth in the 800 with a 2:07.99, also in the race was Scott Pospiech (Ocean, N.J./Holy Spirit) who was ninth running a 2:11.28. Rounding out the top ten finishers was Paul Santuoso (Miami, Fla./Belen Jesuit) with a sixth place finish in the mile (4:51.13), Michael Tuoey in the 55 meter hurdles who was sixth in the finals (9.62) and John Puskar (Fairfield, Conn./Notre Dame Catholic) taking seventh in the 400 meters (56.85).
In the field events, Stephen Prieur (Herndon, Va./Oakton) was ninth in the weight throw tossing it 10.05 meters and tenth in the shot put with a 10.26. Freshman pole vaulter Andrew Kolbeck had a good meet taking third clearing 4.11 meters.
The Cardinals will compete next weekend at the Ursinus Invitational in Collegeville, Pa.
