Kolbeck Qualifies for ECAC's
Cards compete at CNU Invitational
NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- The Catholic University men's track and field squad competed at the Christopher Newport Invitational on Saturday and showed a number of strong performances. This was the Cardinals' final test before the Landmark Conference meet in two weeks.
The story of the meet was freshman pole vaulter Andrew Kolbeck who hit 4.45 meters and placed second on misses in the event. His leap was also enough to qualify him for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship meet.
On the track, Andrew Smith (Arlington, Tenn./Bolton) had a good meet taking 22nd in the 3,000 meters with a 9:17.41 and 29th in the mile running a 4:49.07. Right behind him in the mile was Paul Santuoso (Miami, Fla./Belen Jesuit) in 30th with a 4:50.07. Also running well was Kris Reynolds who placed 21st in the 800 clocking in at 2:05.95.
The Cardinals will have a weekend off before traveling to Susquehanna on February 23 for the Landmark Conference Championship meet.
