Men's Track Runs at Battleground Relays
Cards gear up for Muhlenburg next week
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Catholic University men's track and field squad competed at the Battleground Relays held at the University of Mary Washington Saturday. CUA set a base for the remainder of the season with success in the field events and solid performances on the track.
On the track, Andrew Smith (Arlington, Tenn./Bolton) had the best performance of the day running a 16:01.00 in the 5,000 meter run. In the sprinting events, Andrew Buis (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) posted the best race for CUA placing fifth in the 100 meter dash with an 11.63.
In the field events, Andrew Kolbeck (Pewaukee, Wis./Trinity Academy) tied for first in the pole vault making 3.96 meters to mark the Cards' best performance of the day. Steve Prieur (Herndon, Va./Oakton ) took fourth in the shot put tossing it 10.73 meters and Eric Schoeffling (Norristown, Pa./La Salle) was fifth in the javelin throwing 50.85 meters.
The Cardinals will run at the Muhlenburg Invitational next weekend.
