CUA Takes 13th at Messiah Invitational
Smith places fifth in 5,000
GRATHAM, Pa. - The Catholic University men's track and field team was 13th overall at the Messiah Invitational held in Pennsylvania Saturday. The Cards scored 19 points on the day giving them 13th. Bridgewater College won the 19-team meet with 151.
On the track, Andrew Smith (Arlington, Tenn./Bolton) was the top finisher for the Cardinals taking fifth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:59.37. Other top 20 performances included John Puskar (Fairfield, Conn./Notre Dame Catholic) taking 18th in the 400 meters in a time of 53.86 and Scott Pospiech (Ocean, N.J./Holy Spirit) placing 19th in the 800 meters clocking a 2:07.20.
In the field events, freshman Andrew Kolbeck (Pewaukee, Wis/Trinity Academy) had a solid day for CUA taking fifth place overall in the pole vault. He made 3.80 meters.
CUA will travel to Widener University next Saturday for the final meet before the conference championships.
