CUA Track and Field Goes to Muhlenberg Invitational
Jochem sets a personal record in the 1,500 meters
ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Catholic University men's track and field team competed at the Muhlenberg Invitational on Saturday. The large meet featured nearly 700 athletes overall with over 1,100 entries and was unscored.
CUA had three top ten finishes for the day with the field events leading the way. Freshman Andrew Kolbeck (Pewaukee, Wis/Trinity Academy) was fifth in the pole vault clearing 4.05 meters. On the track, Andrew Buis (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) placed seventh in the 400 meters in a time of 51.80. Distance runner Andrew Smith (Arlington, Tenn./Bolton) also had two good performances with a seventh place finish in the 5,000 meters clocking a 16:01.48 just missing his PR. He also set a new personal record in the 1,500 meters with a 4:23.40. In the same event, Stephen Jochem (Gallup/Gallup Catholic) set a PR finishing 14th with a 4:15.89.
The Cardinals will compete at the Messiah College Invitational this weekend in Gratham, Pa.
