Kolbeck Wins Pole Vault at Mason Dixon
Qualifies for ECAC Championship
WASHINGTON- Catholic University had four athletes compete at the Mason Dixon Conference Meet on Saturday in Salisbury, Md. The Cardinals placed seventh overall with just a few participants. Christopher Newport University won the meet with 203 points.
The highlight of the day was in the pole vault where freshman Andrew Kolbeck (Pewaukee, Wis/Trinity Academy) was the top finisher making 4.30 meters. This finish also qualifies him for the ECAC Championship. Also in field events, Stephen Prieur (Herndon, Va./Oakton) had a solid day with a sixth place finish in three events. His best performance was in the hammer where he threw a season-best 30.72 meters. In the shot put he hit 11.70 meters and in the discus he threw 32.08 meters.
On the track Andrew Smith (Arlington, Tenn./Bolton) had the top time of the day finishing seventh in the 5,000 meters with a 16:26.85. Scott Pospiech (Ocean, N.J./Holy Spirit) was eighth in the 800 meters running a 2:01.01.
Kolbeck will move on to the ECAC Championship while most of the team has concluded their season.
