Cardinals Compete in Dickinson Invitational
CARLISLE, Pa.-The Catholic University men's track and field team put forth a solid effort in this past weekend's invitational at Dickinson College. The Cardinals coming off a strong performance at Susquehanna managed to take 8th place out of sixteen teams that participated in the meet and ended the day just four points behind 7th place Elizabethtown College.
When all was said and done, the home team defend their track as Dickinson took first place by 40 points tallying 170 on the day. Senior Michael Doster (Wayne/ Wayne Valley) had a top four finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.71 and finished 6th in the 55 meter hurdles. The Pennsylvania native had some support from freshmen Brian Norte who had a top five finish in the 600 meter run with a time of 1:26.57 giving him the fastest time in the Landmark Conference this season thus far.
The men's 4x400 and 4x200 squads also had a strong showing finishing third and fifth respectively and Senior John Mason had a strong effort finishing in the top 12 as he threw 12.32m in the shot-put moving him to 5th place in the Landmark Conference in this event for the '08-'09 indoor season.
The Cardinals look to continue growing as they will enter their last meet for the Landmark Conference indoor championships as they travel to Virginian to the Mason-Dixon Invitational hosted by Christopher Newport. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday February 21st and will be the last test for the Cards before they make another run for the Conference Championship.
