Smith Honored as All-Academic Team Recipient
New Orleans LA.- Andrew Smith of The Catholic University of America was named to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team. This is one of the top awards offered in the sport as it combines both high athletic performance and high academic achievement. Smith, who finished 25th in the NCAA Southern Regional Championships in November, is a senior majoring in Electrical Engineering.
The USTFCCCA All-Academic award honors those student-athletes who have succeeded both academically and athletically. To be considered for the award, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.3 cumulative grade point average and must have been named an All-Regional performer at their respective NCAA regional meet.
The 129 USTFCCCA All-Academic honorees represent 70 schools around the country. Smith is also among four recipients who were reported to have GPAs of 4.0 or higher.
