Men's Track Finishes 2nd at Goucher Invitational
TOWSON, Md.- Catholic University of America's men's track team had an excellent showing at the annual Goucher College Invitational over the weekend, finishing 2nd among all schools in attendance.
Andrew Smith led the squad with two first place finishes at the event. Smith earned a meet and stadium record in the 10,000 meter run (33:48.20) and also won the 5000 meter run (16:08.65).
George Brewer also had a strong showing, finishing second in the 3000 meter run (9:53.55) and third in the 1500 meter run (4:25.01). Andrew Holdt in pv, hj and javelin. Michael Kennedy and John Aboud placed 4th and 5th in the 400 meter dash. Aboud also placed third in the 200 meter dash.
Joe Quigley finished the 110 hurdles in 19.32 for a third place finish, also placing third in the 400 meter hurdles. The trio of Sean Brubracker, Josh Monroe, and Steve Prieur all snatched third, fourth, and fifth place in the men's hammer throw to garner points for the Cardinals.
Eric Schoeffling, Tom Breslin, and Andrew Holdt represented the field well, placing third, fourth, and fifth in the javeline throw. Holdt also earned a second place finish in the high jump with a leap of 1.73m.
The squad will return to action on April 9th, as they head to Messiah College for a 10 a.m., meet.
