CUA Men's Track Finds Success at Mason-Dixon Invitational
GETTYSBURG, Pa.- The Catholic University men's track team earned a ninth place finish at the Mason-Dixon Invitational Saturday afternoon, thanks to a number of strong individual finishes from different Cardinals.
Andrew Smith earned the most points for the squad, finishing second in the 5000 meter run. The senior completed the run in 16:06.34. Michael Puskar and Kian Olia were also among the top finishers, earning fourth and fifth in the 10,000 meter run, respectively.
George Brewer also had a strong performance at the meet, finishing sixth in the 3000 meter steeple chase. Eric Schoeffling and Steve Prieur managed seventh place finishes in the javeline throw and hammer throw, respectively. Prieur also earned eleveth place in the discus throw with a toss of 32.72m.
Matthew Wolfe rounded out the top finishes for the Cardinals, earning ninth in the 400 meter hurdles. Wolfe finished the event in 1:03.79.
Also competing at the meet were John Abowd and Chris Dutz, who earned 21st and 23rd in the 200 meter dash, respectively. Joe Funk and Dutz also managed 22nd and 24th place finishes in the 400 meter dash.
The Cards will now compete in the Penn Relays on Thursday, April 22.
