Men's Track Takes Sixth at Landmark Championship
SELINSGROVE, Pa.- The Catholic University men's track team has a number of solid performances at the 2010 Landmark Conference Outdoor Track Championships at Susquehanna University this weekend.
Senior Andrew Smith had a strong showing at the meet, earning 4th in the 10000 meter run and 8th in the 5000 meter run. Teammates Michael Puskar and Kian Olia also took 17th and 21st in the 5000 meter run, respectively.
Joe Quigley nabbed 5th in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 59.70. Quigley also finished 7th in the 110 meter hurdles.
Steve Prieur was a tough force in the field events, earning 6th in the shot put and 7th in the discus throw. Prieur first tossed a distance of 11.63 meters in the shot put, then 32.72 meters in the discus.
Tom Breslin rounded out the team's top finishes by finishing 7th in the javelin throw. Breslin and teammate Sean Brubraker also managed 9th and 10th place finishes in the hammer throw, respectively.
Three Cardinals placed 13th, 14th, and 15th in the 800 meter run: George Brewer, Michael Kennedy, and Nick Pavia. Brewer completed the event in 2:08.50, while Kennedy and Pavia finished in 2:10.70 and 2:10.15, respectively. Brewer also finished 13th in the 1500 meter run.
