Two Cardinals score on day one of outdoor championships

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The CUA men’s track and field team opened competition at the 2011 Landmark Conference outdoor championships on Saturday on the campus of Juniata.  Pete Schramm and Shawn Brubaker scored for the Cardinals in the discus, after finishing sixth and seventh, respectively.

Schramm posted a throw of 112’1” in the discus and Brubaker was not far behind, with a throw of 108’11” to earn three and two points, respectively, for the Cardinals.

In the 1500 meters George Brewer finished 11th, after he crossed in a time of 4:15.10 and in the 10,000 meters Kian Olia recorded a time of 35:54.34, which put him in 12th place.

The Cardinals scored five points on day one and sit in sixth place in the team standings, one point behind fifth place Goucher.  Moravian leads the competition with 83 points, followed by Susquehanna with 73, Juniata (57), Merchant Marine Academy (7), Goucher (6) and CUA (5).

Action at the 2011 Landmark Conference championships will conclude on Sunday with action beginning at 9 a.m.
