Pair of Cardinals honored as Field Athlete of the Week

WASHINGTON – After earning five top-ten finishes between them over the weekend at the Battleground Relays, CUA’s Shawn Brubaker and Kelly Carioto were named the Landmark Conference Men’s and Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, respectively, on Monday.  Brubaker placed tenth in a pair of events, while Carioto posted three top-five finishes.

Brubaker opened his outdoor season on a high note, with top-ten finishes in the discus (95’5”) and the shot put (36’5 ½”).

The reigning Landmark Conference and ECAC champion in the shot put, Carioto finished fourth in the shot this past weekend with a throw of 37’4 ½”.  She also finished third in the hammer (129’1”) and the discus (112’10”).

CUA returns to action this weekend when the Cardinals travel to compete at the Bridgewater College Invitational on March 26.  Action begins at 9 a.m.
