Cardinals open 2011 season; Noell finishes 25th in long jump
LANDOVER, Md. – The CUA indoor track and field teams
opened their 2011 season this weekend at the University of Maryland
Invitational. The Cardinals saw top athletes from all across
the region, including many from Division I schools. Kyle
Noell came in 25th place in the long jump, while Kathryn Sacker
posted two top-25 finishes for the women.
On the men’s side, Mike Puskar posted a time of 10:02.87 in
the 3000-meters to finish 37th and Joe Quigley finished 46th in the
400 as he posted a time of 54.84 seconds.
In the field events, Kyle Noell posted a leap of 18’9”
in the long jump to place 25th and Sean Brubaker came in 34th place
in the shot put, recording a throw of 35’11
½”.
In women’s action, Sacker raced her way to a top-25 finish in
the mile, crossing in 5:37.60, and she added a second top-25 finish
in the 3000-meters with a time of 11:52.00.
Laura Kinley came in 30th in the 600-meters, finishing in 2:34.57,
and Kelly Carioto finished 23rd in the shot put with a toss of
35’00 ¼”.
In the 60 meter hurdles, Rachel Won completed the race in a time
of 10.45 seconds, which placed her in 46th place. Won later
posted a top-50 finish in the 400, as she crossed in 1:08.89.
CUA will return to action next weekend when the Cardinals compete
at the Lebanon Valley Indoor Invitational on January 29.
