Mark Robinson
Head Men's Cross Country and Track & Field Coach

Mark Robinson enters his 12th season as head men's cross country coach at Catholic University and first as the track and field coach. Prior to becoming head coach, he was the middle-distance and distance coach assisting Jerry McGee, the head coach of the men's track team, from 1983 to 1996.

During that time, the Cardinals produced scores of conference champions in distances ranging from 800 meters to 5000 meters, won five East Coast Athletic Conference distance medley titles and garnered All-American honors 12 times. Included in this list are Tom Caffrey, NCAA Division III national 1500 meter champion in 1992, and Paul Drumgoole, two-time national runner up in the 800 meters. A Catholic University alumnus, Robinson is the CUA record holder in the 800 meters (1:46.00).

In addition to his coaching duties, Robinson is director of community building and leadership development at IMPACT Silver Spring, a non-profit organization that works toward supporting and empowering community members to work collaboratively across lines of race, class and culture on challenging community issues. He has more than 20 years experience in the areas of conflict resolution, community organizing, program administration and organizational development.

 
Marie Kennedy
Jumps and Drills Coach



Marie Kennedy begins her first year as the jumps coach with the Cardinal track and field teams although she is no stranger to the squad.  Kennedy has run the Eugene I. Kane Student Fitness Center here on campus since its opening in 2004.  At the fitness center she does everything from train students, organize classes, personal train and order equipment. 

Kennedy has been training athletes for over 25 years.  She has had experiences with almost every sport including basketball, soccer, field hockey and track as well as general performance training and conditioning. 

The Pittsburgh native graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in health physical education and recreation.  While at Pitt she was a four-year member and captain of the women's track and field team where she competed in the high jump, 400 and 400-meter relay.  Kennedy qualified for nationals three times in the high jump ranking as high as fourth in the event.  She was also a recipient of the Blue Gold Award for scholarship and athletic achievement as well as a Rhodes Scholar nominee.

Kenney lives in Great Falls, Va., with her husband Don, a retired Navy commander, and their daughters Stephanie and Kristen.  Stephanie played tennis at CUA and is currently pursuing her Ph.D., at Duke University.  Kristen is a biomedical engineering major and member of the CUA track and field team.  She will compete in the jumps and middle distance this season. 

     
Lloyd Jeremiah
Hurdles Coach



Assistant coach Lloyd Jeremiah has been involved in the sport of track and field for over 30 years. He will be working with the Catholic University sprinters and hurdlers this season.  Jeremiah began his running career as a champion hurdler and sprinter at Coolidge High School in Washington, D.C., where he was league champion in the 110 hurdles and also was named to the All-Met team which honors the top three competitors in each event in the greater Washington, D.C., area. He continued his career while competing for Garden City College in Garden City, Kan. At Garden City he was a four-time NJCAA All-American.

Jeremiah began his coaching career as the assistant track and field coach at The University of The District of Columbia and later became head track coach at Coolidge High School in D.C. While at Coolidge, he developed several outstanding student-athletes including runners who garnered All-Met and All-American honors.  Jeremiah is an outstanding technician and teacher of hurdling theory and technique and he brings that knowledge and skill base along with the rare perspective of a coach who still competes in the events he coaches. Jeremiah competes in master's track and field and has been a finalist multiple times at the World Master's Track and Field Championships He will be competing this fall in the 2007 World Master's Championships in Italy.

Jeremiah is a native Washingtonian, still resides in D.C. He is a professional photographer with his own photography company.

 
Matthew Quinn
Throwers Coach



Special assistant for throwing events, Matt Quinn was an outstanding competitor in all of the weight throwing events while a student at Catholic University. Prior to his graduation in 2001, Quinn was both a Capital Athletic and Mason Dixon Conference champion in the weight throw/hammer throw and the discus. Quinn is also the former CUA record holder in the hammer throw with a distance of 156'4" in 2001. 

An outstanding technician and student of the event, he has taken that knowledge base into coaching and is currently a sought after expert in teaching clinics for the various throwing events. He also used this knowledge to help in the development of CUA All-American thrower Sean Duggan, who is the current school record holder in the weight throw, hammer and shot put.  Quinn will be holding throwing clinics at Catholic University during the 2007 season that will be open to both male and female throwers from the CUA community and beyond.

Quinn resides in Washington, D.C.  He teaches and coaches track at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, Md.
