Cardinals run well at UMES Invite; Jones top finisher
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Dylan Jones crossed in a time of
28:02.82 to place 25th at the UMES Invitational on Saturday
morning. Jones was the Cardinals top individual finisher on
the day. CUA came in seventh in the team standings with 177
points, defeating Division I schools Coppin State and Delaware
State in the process.
Other CUA runners that placed in the top-50 on Saturday included
Kian Olia, who raced to a 29th place finish in 28:28.93, George
Brewer, who finished 37th in 29:29.60, Chris Derks, who placed 42nd
in a time of 29:57.46, and Kyle McKenna, who finished 49th in a
time of 30:41.32.
Joe Quigley (53), Ryan Anderson (55), Nick Pavia (56), and Mike
Kennedy (60) also competed for the Cardinals.
Norfolk State won the team championship with 21 points, followed
by the University of Pittsburgh (65), Howard (98), Maryland Eastern
Shore (113) and Morgan State (155).
Josef Tessma of Norfolk State set a new course record by blazing
to a first place time of 24:43.91.
CUA is now off for two weeks before returning to action on Friday,
September 30 at the nationally known Paul Short Run on the campus
of Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa.
