WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America junior Patrick Jones showed his speed on Saturday and the league office took notice. Jones was recognized as the Landmark Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week.
At one of the largest meet's in the country, Lehigh University's Paul Short Run, Jones led the way for Catholic as the Cardinals. The junior set a personal-best time at 26:46 and finished 13th overall.
The Hagerstown, Md., native helped the Cardinals to a 14th place finish in its group, topping 20 other programs. Jones ran in a field of 266 competitors.
The Cardinals will enjoy a bye week before competing on October 15, at the Gettysburg Invitational.
