2003 Season Review
The Catholic University Men's Cross Country team finished the season with a more than respectable showing at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships in Atlanta Georgia. Senior Michael Audette finished 21st, becoming the first three-time All Region Cross Country runner in school history. This performance helped lead the team to a 12th place finish out of the 20 full teams that qualified for the meet. This finish was lower than the team's preseason goal of a top 10 finish but higher than their early season coaches poll ranking of 15th and one place higher than their pre-meet ranking of 13th. John Lynch, Matt Przydzial, Kevin Slattery and Kevin Milsted also ran strong races for the team.
During the season the team had a few strong performances, taking 3rd at the Washington and Lee Invitational, and 3rd at the St. Michaels Invitational in Vermont. On the individual side, Michael Audette won both the Washington and Lee Invitational, and the York College Invitational.
Next year the team looks to continue the rebuilding process. While the team only loses one runner off of this year's squad to graduation, Mike Audette has been the team's #1 runner since his last race of his freshman season. Audette was also a four-time All-Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) performer, and the two times CAC Individual Champion. However, returning scorers, John Lynch, Kevin Slattery, Matthew Przydzial, Andrew Cvitanovic and Kevin Milsted, along with # 7 Dan McCormick should provide a solid foundation to build around in 2004. Lynch in particular has moved from #5 to #2 in rapid order, and he should be competing for top CAC honors next season. Head Coach Mark Robinson also is looking for the return of last season's freshman standout, Tim Daly to the team for the '04 campaign. The return of these student-athletes coupled with a promising recruiting season bodes well for the future of the program. Cardinals compete at NCAA Regionals
