Smith Takes Fourth at York Invite
CUA places third out of six teams
YORK, Pa. - The Catholic University men's cross country squad took third at the York College Invitational Saturday morning in Pennsylvania. Running without a full squad, the team still turned in a solid performance including Andrew Smith (Arlington, Tenn./Bolton) who was fourth overall with a time of 28:58.40.
Coming in behind Smith was the strong freshman duo of Matt Taylor (Mount Ephraim, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) and Stephen Jochem (Gallup, N.M./Gallup). Taylor was ninth running a 29:38.06 while Jochem clocked in at 30:01.36 for the 8000 meter course making him 11th overall.
Scott Pospiech (30:57.88, Ocean, N.J./Holy Spirit) and Kris Reynolds (31:08.00, Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown Central) came in at 18th and 19th, respectively, while John Puskar (Fairfield, Conn./Notre Dame Catholic) ran a 32:15.09 and Matt Price (Fort Washington, Pa./LaSalle College High) had a 32:55.35 for 26th and 28th.
CUA scored 61 points overall beating three teams but falling to both York College and Goucher, who they will meet again in a few weeks.
Next Saturday the team will travel to Philadelphia for the Belmont Classic held in Fairmont Park.
