Men's Cross Country Team Places 6th at Landmark Conference Championships

ALTOONA, PA-- The CUA men's cross country team placed sixth out of eight conference teams this morning at the 2008 Landmark Conference Cross Country Championships held at the Fort Roberdeau Historic Site in Altoona, Pa.

Susquehanna University took home the championship for the second straight year with 41 points. CUA's sixth place result was also equaled last years finish. CUA finished with 159 points.

Senior Paul Santouso (Miami, Fla./Belen Jesuit) led the Cardinals with a time of 28:26. This earned him an 18th place finish. Junior Andrew Smith (Arlington, Tenn./Bolton) also placed in the top twenty with a time of 28:30. Finishing third for the Cardinals with a time of 29:45 was Sophomore Kris Reynolds (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown Central).

The Cardinals now have two weeks to prepare for the NCAA South/Southeast Regionals on Nov. 15. The team will travel to Seguin, TX to race at the Texas Lutheran Cross Country Course. Strong performances at the NCAA Regionals can earn athletes or teams a trip to the NCAA Division III Championships.
