CUA to Host Landmark Cross Country Championships

WASHINGTON- The Catholic University of America will be hosting the 2009 Landmark Conference Cross Country Meet on Saturday, October 31st, 2009 at The Armed Forces Retirement Home in northeast Washington, D.C. This will be second meet that CUA will be hosting this season.

Last year, the men's cross country team finished 6th in the conference. Top returning finishers include Andrew Smith and Kris Reynolds.

On the women's side, the squad enjoyed a 4th place finish in the Landmark. Katherine Sacker, Madeline Cronan, and Remy Ball were the top finishers for the Cardinals.

In the meet earlier this year at the Armed Forces Retirement Home the CUA women's cross country team finished in first place, while the men finished in third place.

"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to host the Landmark Conference Cross Country Championships at a site so close to our campus," notes Athletic Director Mike Allen. "It's a great opportunity for our student-athletes to compete in front of their friends and family on a course that they are familiar with. We are especially grateful to the staff of the Armed Forces Retirement Home who helped partner with CUA to make this event possible."

The Landmark Conference Championship is set to begin at 10 a.m. with the women's race followed by the men's race at 11 a.m.
