Mark Robinson enters his 12th season as head men's cross country coach at Catholic University. Prior to becoming head coach, he was the middle-distance and distance coach assisting Jerry McGee, the head coach of the men's track team, from 1983 to 1996.
During that time, the Cardinals produced scores of conference champions in distances ranging from 800 meters to 5000 meters, won five East Coast Athletic Conference distance medley titles, and garnered All-American honors 12 times. Included in this list are Tom Caffrey, NCAA Division III national 1500 meter champion in 1992, and Paul Drumgoole, two-time national runner-up in the 800 meters. A Catholic University alumnus, Robinson is the CUA record holder in the one mile (4:07.6) and the 800 meters (1:46.00).
In addition to his coaching duties, Robinson is director of community building and leadership development at IMPACT Silver Spring, a non-profit organization that works toward supporting and empowering community members to work collaboratively across lines of race, class and culture on challenging community issues. He has more than 20 years experience in the areas of conflict resolution, community organizing, program administration and organizational development.
Erik Lenhart graduated from the University of
Scranton in December 2006 after running cross country there for two
seasons under Coach Bill Burke. Before transferring to Scranton,
Lenhart ran one season at the United States Military Academy (West
Point, N.Y.). This will be Lenhart's first season coaching cross
country but he is no stranger to the coaching profession. Lenhart
was a high school tennis coach in Hagerstown, Md., for two seasons.
In addition to his experience running in college, Lenhart has
competed in three marathons, including the Boston Marathon. He
comes to CUA as a first-year graduate student in biblical studies.
