CUA selected as top seed in ECAC tourney, receives 1st round bye
WASHINGTON – After compiling a 23-16 record this season, the CUA softball team was awarded the top seed in the 2012 ECAC South Region Tournament on Monday. The Cardinals received an automatic bye into the weekend portion of the tournament, which will be hosted by Marywood University in Scranton, Pa.
CUA will take on the winner of the Neumann – Wilson contest on Saturday at 10 a.m. The Neumann – Wilson game will take place on Wednesday afternoon.
The other two teams in the South bracket are Penn State-Altoona and host Marywood, with those two teams squaring off at noon on Saturday.
The tournament is double elimination and will wrap up on Sunday.
CUA was last in the ECAC Tournament in 2010, when the Cardinals defeated Alvernia in the first round, before falling to Bethany (W.V.) and Misericordia.
