FROSTBURG, Md. – CUA lost in the First Round of the ECAC South Tournament 9-3 to Frostburg State on Thursday. Tori Marcavage went 2-for-2 at the plate and Amy Laughner earned two RBIs after hitting her fifth double of the season.
The Bobcats got on the board first in the bottom of the 2nd. Renay Aubel reached first base on a Cardinal error and advanced to second on a single to left field by Lauren Capece. Taylor Blevins then hit a triple to right center to score both runners. Another single by Mary Ann Moore plated the third run of the inning.
The Cardinals scored their first run of the game in the top of the 3rd. Mel Galella started things off with a double to center field and was brought around by Taylor Stockinger's single up the middle.
Shari Beavers' two run homer over the left field wall increased the Bobcats' lead 5-1 and two Cardinal errors in the 4th allowed two more runs to cross.
Laughner's double in the 6th added two more runs for the Cardinals.
A pair of Bobcat singles in the bottom of the 6th allowed two runs to cross to increase Frostburg's lead, 9-3.
Victoria Capozucca suffered the loss for the Cardinals after giving up four earned runs in four innings. Moore earned the win for the Bobcats after seven innings of action and giving up three earned runs.
The Cardinals end the season with a 20-21 overall record and 5-5 in the Landmark Conference.
