Laughner named Capital One Academic All-District First Team

WASHINGTON – Sophomore Amy Laughner has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District First Team, it was announced on Thursday. 

A native of Olney, Md., Laughner is an education major with a 3.59 grade-point average.   She is highly involved in a number of activities off the field, including a member of the Phi Eta Sigma honors society.

Laughner was named to the Second Team All-Landmark Conference last season and is also a multi-year member of the Dean's List.

On the field, the centerfielder is batting .372 this season with a total of 34 runs scored, 45 hits, and four doubles, and two homeruns.

Laughner will now advance to the national Capital One Academic All-American ballot.

CUA returns to action on Saturday when the third-seeded Cards take on second-seeded Moravian in the Landmark Conference Tournament. The game is set to begin at 1 p.m.
