CUA selected as seventh seed in ECAC tourney

WASHINGTON – After compiling a 20-20 record this season, the CUA softball team was awarded the seventh seed in the 2013 ECAC South Region Tournament on Monday.  The Cardinals will travel to the No. 2 Frostburg State (29-12) on Thursday for the first round of the tournament.

The other two teams in the South bracket are No. 1 Alvernia, No. 3 McDaniel, No. 4 Centenary, No. 5 Alfred, No. 6 Stevenson, and No. 8 Marywood.

The tournament is double elimination and will wrap up on Sunday.

CUA won the ECAC Tournament in 2013, when the Cardinals defeated Neumann, 5-4.

First Round – Wednesday, May 8

No. 8 Marywood (18-15) at No. 1 Alvernia (34-9), 4 p.m.

No. 6 Stevenson (22-21) at No. 3 McDaniel (23-17), 4 p.m.

No. 5 Alfred (23-17) at No. 4 Centenary (20-13), 4 p.m.

First Round – Thursday, May 9

No. 7 Catholic (20-20) at No. 2 Frostburg State (29-12), 4 p.m.

Double Elimination (Day 1) – Saturday, May 11 at Highest Remaining Seed

Game 1: No. 1/No. 8 winner vs. No. 4/No. 5 winner, Time TBD
