Catholic Splits With Washington College

WASHINGTON – After an opening 2-1 loss to Washington College, the CUA softball squad evened the afternoon with a 3-1 win in Chestertown, Md.

CUA scored their only run in the top of the fifth for a short lead.  Kylie Finley scored Christy Sanchez, who reached first base on a walk.

Victoria Capozucca took the loss by allowing five hits, two runs and three walks with three strikes.

Game two was just the opposite with the Cards scoring three runs: one on the top of the fourth and two in the top of the eighth.

Erin Adams doubled down the left line scoring Amy Laughner, which was followed by an RBI single from Laughner and a pop-up sacrifice to second base by Adams.

Kimberly Giurlando and Capozucca shared the mound, with Capozucca taking the win.

The Lady Cards take on Drew on Saturday, April 12 in a doubleheader at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
