Capozucca Voted Pitcher of the Year; Lozupone, Marcavage, Laughner Named All-Landmark
WASHINGTON - Senior captain Victoria Capozucca was voted as the Landmark Pitcher of the Year by the coaches around the conference, while three other Cardinals took home All-Landmark honors.
Joining Capozucca on the All-Landmark First Team was rookie sensation Kristina Lozupone. Tori Marcavage and Amy Laughner were voted to the Second Team, giving Catholic four All-Conference players this season.
Capozucca paced the league with a 1.35 earned run average this season. She earned a 15-4 record in the circle and finished the regular season with seven shutouts. Her Landmark earned run average is an impressive 1.07.
Lozupone hit .450 this season to rank second in the Landmark. She was honored for her performance as a catcher and designated player. She has tallied 45 hits thus far and her 29 RBIs are third most in the Landmark.
Marcavage was named to the Second Team as a first basemen. At the plate she was 25-for-85 for a .295 hitting percentage. She scored nine runs and had 10 RBIs.
From her spot in the outfield, Laughner had a .981 fielding percentage with 51 putouts and just on error all season long. She has started all 33 games for the Cardinals so far and has a .376 batting average on 41 hits.
The Cardinals secured the No. 3 seed in the Landmark Tournament which starts tomorrow. They will play No. 2 Moravian in the second game of the day at Susquehanna.
