WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America softball team got back on track with two victories on Wednesday at the PFX Spring Games in Clermont, Fla. The Cardinals downed Penn State Brandywine, 6-3, and added a victory over Mount Union, 8-5.
Against Mount Union, junior Megan Colline led the way with a two-RBI double in the bottom of the sixth and finished the game 2-for-3 with a run.
Junior centerfielder Rachel Valdes went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, and added a stolen base.
Rookie pitcher Sabrina Scott went the distance for her first career victory as she scattered eight hits, four earned runs and struck out three.
Seven different Cardinals registered at least one hit in the win over Mount Union.
The Cards overcame a three-run first inning deficit against Penn State Brandywine as a four-run fourth inning gave them a 5-3 lead.
Ace Kelly Lynch picked up her third-straight complete game as she rebounded from a tough first to hold PSU-B scoreless over the next six with four K's.
Catholic plays its second-straight doubleheader tomorrow as they Cards take on Muhlenberg and Concordia (Ill.).
