Catholic Edged in Landmark Tourney by Susquehanna, 4-2

Bethlehem, Pa. – The Catholic University of America softball team was edged in Game 5 of the Landmark Conference Tournament hosted by Moravian as the Cardinals fell to Susquehanna, 4-2.

Seven different Catholic players registered hits but the Susquehanna offense countered with 11 hits of their own and plated runs in the fifth and sixth to advance to the Championship versus Moravian.

The River Hawks struck first with a run in the second inning and added two more in the fifth to take a 3-0 lead.

Senior Julie Keleti answered in the bottom of the frame however as her RBI single scored rookie Marissa Wimmer. Wimmer then came around to score on the next play as Keleti drew an errant throw on a failed pickoff attempt that led to a throwing error.

That was as close as Catholic would get however as Susquehanna got one back on a RBI single in the next inning.

Fellow seniors Molly MacNeill and Erin Adams each finished their final games 1-for-4 while their classmate Rebekah Hoisl went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored.
