1996 Season
Season in Review
The softball team finished second in the CAC during the regular season, but was upset in the semifinal round of the CAC Tournament. Junior catcher Whitney Dunn, who was eighth in the nation in batting (.545) and 16th in RBI (42), was CAC Player of the Year and made the ECAC Southern Region All-Star Team. Senior pitcher/shortstop Roxanna Bautista batted .420 with 47 runs batted in (ninth in the nation) and on the mound was 10-9, with five shutouts, a 2.67 earned run average and 115 strikeouts in 118 innings. Bautista, who was 10th in the nation in strikeouts per seven innings, finished her career as the school's all-time strikeout leader (262) and was second in wins (32). She made first-team all-CAC pitcher. Junior 2B Sandy Eley (.330 avg., team-high 10 sacrifice hits) made second-team all-CAC.
